REALISM IS NOT LIKE RIDING A BIKE! IT LIES!!!
...So, I've been kind of working my way toward doing this really spiffy character for a friend in realism and had forgotten all the hell that came with that style of art. I'm so used to sketching and such that I had forgotten all the honest to goodness work that went into it. Like the constant applying and un-applying of graphite, the shading from hell, and the knowledge that once again I am so going in blind because I thought it would be a good idea to use a half a dozen different references and their dogs to try to build an original character from scratch! I knew it would be a challenge going in but... seriously?!?!
I am determined though, I'm going to do something awesome with the Love-Child even if I have to eventually scrap what I'm doing now to make something prettier in my comfort zone.
But first!
I'm going to see if I can't make this little experiment pan out.
The bones of it doesn't look too bad, and while the shading is certainly being a nightmare I'm slowly remembering all the little tricks for working around that handicap. It's just... wow.
I suppose this is what I get for working with traditional mediums rather than just saving my money to get all the equipment and programs needed for digital art.
Go figure.
